UAA is probably the "HDA Audio bus driver" referenced in the error message. If you don't wish to deal with Microsoft, this is my previous recipe. This actually appears to be KB835221, which is also mentioned in the above link: ******** Unzip the three parts, then execute the first part. Unrar will prepare the CMI

HDA Audio bus driver is required.....
The Microsoft UAA Bus driver has to be installed before the C-Media High Definition driver for onboard sound. These drivers are on the Gigabyte CD, however, Windows XP automatically installs the MS UAA Bus driver when XP is installed, or when you uninstall it from Device Manager and reboot.

My guess is, you found a driver for some other audio chip, the installer did an HDAudio UAA check, didn't find UAA, and stopped. If you grab an AC'97 driver, one intended for your audio chip, there is no need for UAA to be installed. AC'97 doesn't use UAA, whereas an HDaudio device would use it. Very good Paul.

Paul You reported that the installer complained "The HDA Audio bus driver is required and not found". I gave you a solution, to install kb835221.exe . Once kb835221 is installed, you should then have a UAA bus driver. After the computer is rebooted, you can try running the Soundmax installer again.
